A man was robbed at knifepoint and a woman was beaten by muggers in Herald Square subway station

On Sunday night, a group of six subway robbers confronted a couple on a downtown 1 Train, wielding a kitchen knife and a switchblade.

The robbers demanded the 39-year-old man’s shoes, cell phone, and wallet, but fled empty-handed after beating and threatening the couple with the knives. The incident occurred near 7th Ave. and W. 34th street, according to the NYPD.

According to the NYPD, a group of six subway robbers assaulted a couple on a downtown 1 Train on Sunday night.

Four men armed with a kitchen knife and a switchblade confronted the man and demanded his shoes, cell phone, and wallet while the two women attacked the woman, repeatedly punching her in the face in an attempt to snatch her cell phone.

Although the female victim held on, the man handed over his wallet and cell phone to the group before the robbers fled the train at W. 28th Street. The woman received treatment at the scene for facial injuries. The robbers are currently being sought by police.
