Ryan Reynolds, a popular Hollywood actor, has expanded his wealth through wise investments that are unrelated to his acting career.

The Canadian star, who remains one of the highest-paid actors globally, is poised to earn over $300 million from the sale of a smaller phone network that he has a stake in, following an acquisition by a US telecoms company.

Additionally, Reynolds, who is a co-owner of the Welsh football team Wrexham AFC, made a considerable profit in 2020 after selling his co-owned gin brand for a reported $610 million.

T-Mobile, the second-largest mobile phone carrier in the US, has acquired budget telecoms firm Mint Mobile for $1.35 billion, of which Reynolds reportedly owns 25%.

“We are so happy T-Mobile beat out an aggressive last-minute bid from my mom Tammy Reynolds,” he joked in a press release announcing the sale.

The Hollywood A-lister, known for his roles in Detective Pikachu and Green Lantern, has been actively participating in advertising campaigns for Mint Mobile through his company Maximum Effort.

In addition to Mint Mobile, Maximum Effort has created advertisements for Peloton and Reynolds’ gin brand, Aviation American Gin, which he sold to the spirits giant Diageo in 2020.

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Reynolds referred to the company’s work as “fastvertising,” which involves creating short, viral ads.

“Everything we do is scrappy. It’s fast, it’s inexpensive, character over spectacle,” he said.

Ryan Reynolds started his acting career in the 1990s and has since appeared in several popular movies, including Deadpool 2, Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, The Adam Project, and Free Guy.

Forbes listed him as the world’s second highest-paid actor in 2020, earning more than $20 million per film. He was only behind Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in this regard.

During a 2018 interview on the daytime talk show Live with Kelly and Michael, Reynolds reminisced about his first acting job as a teenager, which he got while working as a newspaper delivery person.

He revealed that he was paid $150 for that role.

“For me, I thought I was like a gajillionaire,” Reynolds said. “For a 150 bucks a day it was like a dream come true.”

Ryan Reynolds, along with Rob McElhenney, the co-creator of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, bought Wrexham United AFC in 2021 for $2.5 million.

They even created a documentary series about the team titled Welcome to Wrexham. Rumors have circulated in recent years that Reynolds may also consider purchasing the Ottawa Senators hockey team.

Like many other celebrities, Reynolds has invested in various non-acting projects. Ashton Kutcher, for example, owns a venture capital firm with stakes in Uber, Skype, and Airbnb. Snoop Dogg and Jared Leto are among those who have invested in Reddit.

Despite his wealth, Reynolds continues to act and is slated to star in Deadpool 3 next year, along with Hugh Jackman, who will be reprising his role as Wolverine.
