A male individual has been accused of committing a hate crime after making threats to shoot a teenage individual of Jewish descent in Queens

Police reported on Thursday that a man has been arrested and charged with hate crimes for allegedly harassing and threatening a Jewish teenager in Queens last year. Eli Irby, 23, is facing charges of menacing as a hate crime and aggravated harassment for the incident that occurred on October 20.

The victim, a 19-year-old, was approached by Irby at a strip mall in Bay Terrace at around 9 p.m.

Irby reportedly spewed hateful rhetoric and made threats to shoot the victim.

Fortunately, the victim was unharmed, and Irby fled the scene following the attack.

Irby’s arraignment in Queens Criminal Court was scheduled for Thursday evening.
