A dying newborn boy found abandoned outside a Queens home with his umbilical cord still attached

Authorities said a dying infant boy was discovered abandoned outside a Queens home on Sunday morning with his umbilical cord still attached. His 23-year-old mom was later taken into custody.

Officials found the newborn outside a home on 126th St. in South Ozone Park around 10 a.m., authorities said. The boy was in serious condition and taken to Jamaica Hospital, police said.

A next-door neighbor, Elyte Surajeeli, said she saw the boy in an alley, resting on his side, in a pool of blood, then told one of his mom’s relatives to call 911.

Surajeeli said the mother’s female relative was sitting in the front yard of their home, while 2 children played outside.

Surajeeli added that the infant’s mom came out of the residence to wipe him with a towel, & cops showed up soon after.

Police said the newborn’s mother was taken into custody with charges pending.
