The world’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge will open in Portugal this fall

516 Arouca, the world’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge will open in Portugal this fall.

The bridge is 1,692 feet long & located in the town of Arouca, northern Portugal.

516 Arouca is made of steel cables & rigid netting. Also, the 3-foot-wide bridge hangs 576 feet above a river below.

The bridge will connect Aguieiras Waterfall & Paiva Gorge at the Arouca Geopark. It takes about 10 minutes to cross at a leisurely pace & does provide some breathtaking views.
