Trump has dashed hopes for a large, bipartisan stimulus arrangement before the November election. That will ensure a longer, more painful recovery from the deep recession started by the Covid-19.

“I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business,” Trump tweeted on Tuesday.

The Dow dropped more than 600 points following the news & closed down 1.3%. The S&P 500 fell 1.4%, while the Nasdaq Composite finished 1.6% lower.
