Nadia Podoroska became the first-ever qualifier to reach the French Open women’s singles semifinals

On Tuesday, 23-year-old Argentine professional tennis player Nadia Podoroska made history at the French Open by becoming the first-ever qualifier to reach the women’s singles semifinals at Roland Garros.

Podoroska, who is ranked 131st in the world, had never beaten a top 50 player coming into the tournament but stunned No.3 seed Elina Svitolina in straight sets — 6-2 6-4.

Podoroska showed impressive efficiency throughout the quarterfinal game, celebrating her win by throwing her racket into the air with joy.
