A 32-year-old man who stabbed his own mother and father to death, chopped up their bodies & attempted to dissolve their limbs in a gruesome attack in November 2016 will likely spend the rest of his life in prison following a trial last week in Tennessee.
A Knox County jury on Friday found Joel Guy Jr. guilty of premeditated first-degree murder, felony murder & abuse of a corpse for the 2016 Thanksgiving slayings in Hardin Valley.
The 5-day trial featured a series of graphic & disturbing information about the killings, which happened while Guy Jr. was visiting his family for the holiday weekend.
Guy Jr. stabbed both casualties multiple times, breaking & severing many of their bones, before decapitating his mom & dousing their limbs in caustic chemicals, turning them into a “diabolical stew of human remains,” officials told the jury last Monday.
Body parts of both victims were found scattered throughout the residence when cops conducted a welfare check requested by the lady’s co-workers. The couple’s severed torsos were discovered in plastic containers in a washroom while Guy Sr.’s severed hands were on the floor of his bedroom.
Legal representatives said he took lives of his mom and dad to cash in on their life insurance policies after they terminated helping him financially. Guy Jr., who never had a job & had been taking college courses for 10 years, composed detailed murder plans in a notebook that was described in court as a “book of premeditation.”.
