Novak Djokovic defaulted after hitting line judge with the ball during his men’s singles match at US Open

The US Open was meant to be a perfect hit for Novak Djokovic however as opposed to drawing nearer to Roger Federer in the Grand Slam record books, Djokovic was defaulted on Sunday when he hit a line judge with a ball.

The Serb had recently been broken to trail 6-5 in the principal set against Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta when he hit a ball behind him on the court. Djokovic wouldn’t have been focusing on anybody yet it hit the line judge, apparently close to the face and she tumbled to the ground.

The chair umpire, Aurelie Tourte, and Djokovic, went to speak to her before they were joined on court by tournament referee Soeren Friemel and administrator Andreas Egli. Djokovic then had an all-inclusive discussion with Friemel before he was formally defaulted.
